Summary

On September 3, 1986 in San Diego, California, professional skateboarder/snowboarder, Shaun White was born. When he was little he had a heart defect, and had to have two surgeries before the age of five.

Shaun entered just about every snowboard competition he saw, and won just about everyone he entered. He was at such a young age too.

When he was 13, he won a snowboard competition and burton, a snowboard company, was there. They saw great talent in White, and decided to sponsor him. They were his first sponsor, and to this day, they are his biggest sponsor.

Now, Shaun White is in the Olympics in the winter, and he enters the X-games in the summer. In both of these events, he has won many medals.

To this day, Shaun White is still alive at 22 years old. He will probably get even better at snowboarding and skateboarding throughout following years, and will win even more medals than he already has.

Fun Facts

"I Wanna Try That!" Sports Illustrated for Kids August 2008: 44-45.

There are a lot of common known facts about Shaun White, but there are some pretty cool facts about him that a lot of people don't know. I call those fun facts.

My favorite fact about Shaun White is that he would like to try gymnastics. "Before going to the Winter Olympics in 2006," he says, "I had only watched the Summer Olympics. I just remember gymnastics was the coolest and most amazing thing to watch. The floor routines, the rings, the bars. That's really impresive. I'd actually like to try and do something like that. Obviously, I like to flip and spin."

Shaun White attempted the first ever 1080 skateboarding, but unfortunately didn't land it.

Shaun's absolute favorite colors of all time are red and green. I can see why he likes red so much though.

Shaun's favorite tv shows are Family Guy, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Just Shoot Me.

No offense to french people, but Shaun White's least favorite food is french food. Sorry Lisa.

Shaun's sponsors include Burton, Oakley, T-mobile, R.E.D., Volcom, Birdhouse Skateboards, Ricta, June Mountain, Target, Mountain Dew, Transworld Snowboarding, Adio, Sony PlayStation, and HP.

How to put trucks on a deck

First of all, trucks in this case are the two metal things holding the wheels in place. And the deck is the piece of wood you stand on.

The first thing to putting trucks on a deck is you need some tools. You need a wrench and a screwdriver. When you have those tools you can start. First, you place the trucks on the bottom of the skateboard. Secondly, you put screw through the holes in the deck, and the holes in the trucks. Third, you place the bolts over the screw, and tighten just about as far as they can go. It's really your choice how tight your bolts are though, so have them at a comfortable tightness. That's really all there is to it, and just do the same thing to the other truck. You want to have the trucks at the same tightness though. Be aware of that.

Just a pointer:
If you like doing lots of tricks, you should have your trucks tight. If you just like riding around, have them a little looser. If you like doing both, have them somewhere in between.

History of Shaun White

http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Swhite/Swhite_bio.html http://www.kidzworld.com/article/3706-shaun-white-biography http://www.mahalo.com/Shaun_White

Shaun White was born on September 3, 1986 in San Diego, California. He was born with a heart defect, and had to have two cardiac surgeries before the age of five. His family was a five person family. His mom Cathy, his dad Roger, his brother Jesse, his sister Kari, and of course, him. Shaun's brother, Jesse, influenced him to skateboard. He grew up close to a YMCA, which had a half pipe, so he would go there sometimes to skate every once in a while.
Shaun White started snowboarding at age six, after seeing Jesse doing it. Shaun became very good at such a young age, and entered just about every snowboarding contest he saw. Almost every single snowboarding contest he entered, he won. Burton saw talent in White, and sponsored him. He became pro at just age 13. He could do flips, rails and more!
In 2002, he won a sliver medal at the X Games, Superpipe, and Slopestyle. In 2003, he won a gold in Slopestyle, Superpipe, and at the X Games. So he got one medal up from the last year. 2004 wasn't as good of a year, but it was pretty darn good. He won a gold in Slopestyle, and at the X Games. 2005 was a year just the same as the last. A gold in Slopestyle, and at the X Games. 2006 was an unbelievable year. A gold in the Olympics for Men's Halfpipe, Slopestyle Superpipe, and at the X Games. 2007 was a year for one of each. A gold at the X Games, a silver at Superpipe, and a bronze at Slopestyle. A gold medal in the X Games, a gold in Superpipe, and a bronze in Slopestyle, was what happened in 2008. Shaun White will most likely continue getting more medals, and get better in the following years.

The Quest

So, I gave Maggie my list of topics of what I would like to do for my P.Q.  I told her that I really, really, really, wanted to do Shaun White.

She said, "How bad do you want to do him?"
"Really bad!" I said.
"Well, I don't see any worshipping," said Maggie.
"Fine," I said, "then I'll get on my knees." I got on my knees, and started to do some worshipping to Maggie.
"Jack," Maggie said, "most of your topics are people. How about a topic?"
"Uhh, okay. How about Poptarts?" I asked.
"Find out if he likes Poptarts, and you can have him," Maggie replied to me.
"Okay!" I exclaimed, "Deal!"
After that, I spent three days trying to find that out. I checked google, yahoo answers. I even checked blogs, phone number websites, and I even called Kellogg's, and talked to two different people. The next day I told Maggie what I did, but I still couldn't find out if Shaun White liked Poptarts. She said it was okay, and that I could still have him. I was really excited! I had gotten the Flying Tomato for my P.Q.
